"The Sawyer's Ledges and associated unmarked trails are located on private land in
Bradford, Vermont. One of the landowners, Putt Blodgett co-led a hike with me for the Upper Valley Land Trust last year. He is O.K. with respectful public visitors on his land. I assume the Kelly's would have a similar comfort level but will check with them - if
there is a concern I'll get back to you."
"To access Putt's land, travel 3 miles north of Bradford village on Rte. 5 to Roaring Brook Road (at the sign for Challenge Wilderness Camp). Turn left and travel on Roaring Brook Road for approximately 4/10ths (avoid turning onto driveway on your right and at the "Y" ahead on your
left) of a mile to a field on your left, park and walk across the field to the edge of the forest and follow a trail which starts at about the middle of the field and angles slightly
down slope and to the left as you head south. At the first trail intersection (you will have just entered the
Kelly property) turn right and head up a fairly steep skidder trail to the top of the hill. A few skidder trails on your left will bring you out to the top of the ledges."
"Both of these landowner's have conserved most of these properties with UVLT - putting development restrictions on them, however, there is no official public access provided in the easement for the ledges. Stonecliff Island viewed from the ledges was assessed for Natural Community values last summer and the easement allows for some public access if key natural values are not impacted."
